Join us for a special screening of Pueblos de Arrecife (Reef People), a short documentary that explores Colombia’s Caribbean and Pacific coasts. Through coral ecosystems, cultural heritage, and local voices, the film highlights the vital role of communities in protecting marine and coastal territories.

GUEST 1: Kalolaine Fainu
Kalolaine Fainu a passionate advocate and creative force from the Pacific Islands. KAs a woman who proudly carries Pacific Island heritage, Kalolaine envisions a strong, unified alliance of Pasifika nations, equitably represented within the Pacific region. Her vision is deeply rooted in the values of opportunity, awareness, acknowledgment, education, heritage, and honoring traditional practices to guide future progress.
She will share insights from his project highlighting the strength, vibrant culture, and resilience of the Tuvaluan people, challenging the narrative that paints Pacific Island communities as powerless climate victims.
Additionally, Kalolaine Fainu, one of our 2024 Revolutionary Storyteller Grantees, will present her impactful work.
GUEST 2: KC Nwakalor
KC Nwakalor is a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Abuja, Nigeria. His photography primarily focuses on journalism and editorial work, concentrating on social, economic, environmental, and health issues. His aim is to humanize these stories, as these topics are often approached as mere statistics or numbers, without considering the people involved. Through his work, he strives to highlight the urgency of these issues and emphasize the need for action and doing what’s right.
